Validate missing readings, unit conversions, duplicate records and changes to source data. Preserve the context needed to trace a measure back to its origin. The appropriate business specialists should approve reporting methods and any resulting action; integration and platform implementation alone do not validate a sustainability claim.

Prepare source inventories, reporting needs, asset records and current collection processes. Agree a bounded data or asset use case, then define ingestion, exception handling and review responsibilities. Deliverables can include a data ownership matrix, integration design, validation evidence and a prioritized improvement backlog.
